What's in Nitrosol Original?
- A balanced supply of the major nutrients being NPK 11.5.7 (nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium. These absorb through BOTH the foliage and roots (via the soil) making Nitrosol Original readily available for the plant to use.
- High in organic matter. Nitrosol Original blood and bone includes amino acids, albumin, globulin, cholesterol, humates. and protein; the building blocks of life.
- Formulated with all sorts of goodies including two naturally occurring growth promoters to boost and sustain plant growth and health.
- Formulated to give the perfect mix of essential trace elements and minerals.
Continually improved over the years the current formulation is a smooth colloidal suspension designed to reduce product settling. By increasing the amino acids the NPK levels have been able to increase to 11-5-7 giving a further improvement in plant growth.
How to Use Nitrosol Original
Dilution with water is usually recommended to be 1:100 (or 1:200 for seedlings). Make sure well agitated before mixing.
Some guidelines for mixing Nitrosol are at 1:100 are below:
• 5ml (about 1 teaspoon) per 500ml of water. For home use use 5-10ml
• 40ml (about 8 teaspoons) per 4 litres of water
• 150ml (about 9 tablespoons) per 15 litres of water. A typical backpack sprayer.
• One litre per 100 litres of water
Nurseries
If you want to use Nitrosol Original for germinating seeds, transplanting seedlings, planting out of cuttings or shrubs and trees or general repotting then mix Nitrosol with water at a lower 1:200 dilution. Use the diluted mix on seed beds at the time of sowing. Repeat application weekly.
You can soak seedlings in the diluted mix overnight prior to transplanting, and then use the residual diluted mix on the seedling after planting. Use both around the root zone and on the foliage.
General Garden Use
For general use around the garden on green vegetables, tomatoes, flowers, shrubs, fruit trees, lawns, vines, house plants etc., mix Nitrosol at the recommended 1:100 dilution and use around the root zone and foliage. During times of rapid growth such as spring and Autumn apply weekly or at any time when plants are stressed. At other times monthly applications are fine.
Turf, Lawns, Sports Grounds, Golf Courses, Bowling Greens
What Nitrosol will achieve in turf and lawn
- Gives lawn and turf a range of balanced nutrients.
- Improves general turf and lawn health and produces a vibrant strong colour, which in turn improves resistance against insect pests and disease, which can reduce pest control costs.
- Encourages natural biological control of thatch by increasing the organic activity. This results in quicker decomposition of the dead plant material.
- Application followed by rain or irrigation improves plant/soil uptake without any loss due to leaching or run-off, especially good if you are using water retention/wetting agents such as Spraywetter .
- Improved recovery from stressful events such as flooding, drought or frosts.
- The two natural growth promotants will stimulate plants to take up and use all available nutrients.
Application rates of Nitrosol for Turf, sports fields, golf fairways and greens and Decorative lawn
| Application | Rates | Notes |
| Parks, sport fields | 10-20 litres per hectare per application | One application each in spring, summer and autumn |
| Golf fairways and greens | 10-20 litres per hectare per application | In October/November and March/April as required for thatch removal |
| Bowling Greens | 2 litres per green |
Spring - 1-2 applications Summers 2-3 applications Autumn 2-3 applications Perfect after water retention / wetting products are used such as Spraywetter . |
| Lawns | 200ml per 10 square meters | 1-2 applications each in spring, summer and autumn |
Orchards and Viticulture
Including pip fruit, stone fruit, grapes, olives, nuts, grapes, avocado etc. apply 1-3 times a year at the rate of 10-20 litres per hectare in a reasonable amount of water.
Whenever crop or plant protection chemicals are combined to be sprayed, add Nitrosol as the last ingredient to the spray mix at the recommended dilution rate of 1:100 or at 4 - 15 litres per hectare. See cautions below on mixing and compatibility.
Glasshouse Fruit and Vegetables
Same as if used on fruit and vegetables outdoors. Great for lettuce, capsicums, chili, tomatoes, beans, cucumber and more.
Use the normal 1:100 dilution weekly or add to the spray tank as the last ingredient, with crop protection chemicals and spray to the drip point. See caution below.
If adding Into fertigation or liquid feed systems as a booster, add Nitrosol to the chemical liquid feed concentrate tank at the rate of 1 litre of Nitrosol per 150 litres of liquid feed concentrate.
Other Crops
Cotton, maize, corn, sorghum, canola, wheat, barley, tomatoes, etc.
As a booster, or to address limiting factors or stress, add Nitrosol to the spray tank at 1 - 5 litres per hectare. DO NOT exceed a dilution of greater than 1:100. Add to the spray tank as the last ingredient whenever crop or plant protection chemicals are applied. See caution below.
Mixing with weed sprays, pesticides and herbicides
Add Nitrosol to the spray tank at 1:100 last. When using selective herbicides it will help non-target plants to recover from the stress of the spray. Do a compatibility test first.
Compatibility Test if Mixing Nitrosol
Always check for chemical mix compatibility before using with other products. Mix up a small sample quantity in the same ratio as it is intended to be used. If the samples mix easily and stay in suspension, then further test by spraying onto a sacrificial plant or branch to identify any undesirable effects. Do this before widespread use on plants, trees, crops, etc.
To date Nitrosol Ltd have not identified any incompatibility with commonly used plants protection products in laboratory tests, however due to on-site variables such as water quality, new or changed chemical formulations, or changed mixtures of chemicals be sure to thoroughly test first and satisfy yourself as to suitability for mixing.
Nitrosol is a registered tradename of Nitrosol Ltd.
