LAWNMATE

Selective lawn weedkiller, controls clover and broadleaf weeds

Contains: 200g/L 2,4-D and 100g/L Dicamba

A selective lawn herbicide designed to control many common broadleaf weeds while leaving established grass largely unaffected when used correctly.

It combines two proven active ingredients - 2,4-D and dicamba - providing reliable control of stubborn broadleaf lawn weeds such as clover, docks, sorrel, bindweed, thistles, buttercups and cape ivy.

LawnMate will also kill woody scrub weeds such as inkweeds, lupin, fennel and broom. Add SprayWetter for improving wetting.

Ideal for home lawns, lifestyle blocks, turf areas and lawn renovation, LawnMate helps restore lawns back to clean, healthy grass cover.

This product is similar to the well-known Banvine(2) lawn herbicide and provides comparable broadleaf weed control in turf situations.

DO NOT USE ON PASTURE OR CROPLAND.

LawnMate provides similar weed control performance to a number of well-known lawn herbicide products used across New Zealand.

Weed Identification Help

Not sure exactly what weed you’re dealing with? Correct identification is the first step to getting good control.

Browse the Rainbow & Brown Weed File library to view photos of common New Zealand weeds and learn the best control options for each species.

Our Weed File includes practical information on problem weeds commonly found in lawns and lifestyle blocks, helping you match the right product to the right weed.

Tip: Identifying the weed first will help you choose the most effective control method and timing.

How It Works

LawnMate contains two hormone-type herbicides (group 4 herbicides) that mimic natural plant growth regulators in susceptible plants.

Once absorbed through the leaves, the herbicide causes uncontrolled growth within broadleaf weeds, leading to twisting, distortion and eventual death of the plant.

Grasses tolerate these herbicides much better than broadleaf weeds, allowing selective weed control in lawns and turf.

Weeds usually begin showing twisting and distortion within a few days, with full control developing over 2–3 weeks.

When is the best time to spray lawns?

Autumn and spring are generally the best times when weeds are actively growing.

Can I spray a newly planted lawn?

No. Wait until turf is at least 12 months old before using LawnMate.

Safety & Compliance

Always read and follow label directions before use.

Avoid spray drift onto gardens, vegetables, ornamentals or trees as these plants can be sensitive to hormone herbicides.
