Q: When it the best time to spray pennyroyal and what weed spray should i use?
A: Pennyroyal is a weed that you may not notice on your farm until it flowers. Unfortunately by the time Pennyroyal has flowered it is too late to get adequate control. Pennyroyal is best controlled when it has lots of leaf, but prior to it developing any flower stalks.
There is no clover-friendly herbicide to control Penny Royal and there is no spray option that will give 100% control in one application.
Boom Spraying: Use 2,4-d granules at 1.5 - 2kg/ha applied in spring after seedling germination. (60-70% control)
Spot Spraying: GrassMate at 6m/L applied anytime, but preferably when growing actively. No added penetrant is required. Grass friendly, but will suppress clover.
