Dust2Dust® Insecticide Powder is a versatile, dry formulation insecticide dust designed to deliver effective residual control of crawling and burrowing insects in both outdoor perimeters and structural gaps around NZ properties.

This ready-to-use powder is formulated to adhere to insect body surfaces and penetrate cracks, voids and harborage areas where insects hide. As insects come into contact with the treated dust particles, the active ingredient delivers prolonged knockdown and barrier protection against pest activity.

Dust2Dust® is ideal for use in locations including:

• Base of walls, doorframes and skirting voids

• Around window ledges and eave gaps

• Under decking, garden sheds and storage structures

• Around patios, paths and fence lines

• High-traffic insect routes and nest entry points

It has proven efficacy against nuisance pests such as ants, cockroaches, spiders, silverfish, fleas and beetle larvae — making it a practical solution for both residential and commercial pest control needs. The dust formulation offers the advantage of minimal mess, easy application and extended residual activity in dry environments.

Permethrin is a synthetic pyrethroid insecticide — a man-made chemical based on natural pyrethrins from chrysanthemum flowers. It affects the nervous system of insects, causing paralysis and death when they contact treated surfaces.  

Dust2Dust® Insecticide Powder is a contact insecticide — insects must walk through or brush against the dust for it to work. It interferes with sodium channels in insect nerve cells, leading to paralysis and death.

Because the dust clings to insect feet and bodies, even tiny amounts transferred through contact can be effective.

A formulation described as 20 g/kg Permethrin 40:60 in dust form means:

• 20 g of permethrin per kilogram of dust (2 % w/w)

• The 40:60 ratio refers to the mixture of the cis and trans isomers of the molecule — these influence the potency and persistence of the insecticide.

• The active is delivered as a dry dust powder, not a liquid spray.

Products with 20 g/kg permethrin dust are typically used for:

Control of ants, cockroaches, fleas, silverfish and beetles by dusting cracks, crevices, wall voids and around electrical outlets.

When carefully applied into entry holes at night, permethrin dusts can help suppress active wasp nests.

Dust is ideal for roof voids, under eaves, behind cabinets and other places sprays struggle to reach.

✔ Ready-to-use, no mixing
Unlike liquid concentrates, dust products are typically ready to apply (no dilution), and their superfine formulation can penetrate deep crevices.

MPI Approval – Dairy Processing (Type DMC)

This product type is approved by MPI for use in dairy processing environments, subject to label compliance and pest programme controls

What this means in practice:

• May be used in dairy sheds, plant rooms and processing facilities

• Must be applied:

  • strictly as an insecticide

  • away from food contact surfaces

  • within a documented pest management programme

MPI Approval – Animal Product Premises (Type B)

The same formulation is also approved for use in animal product processing premises (non-dairy) under the Animal Products Act regime

Approved environments include:

• Meat processing facilities

• Cold stores

• Fish processing vessels

• Premises handling animal products (excluding dairy, which is covered separately above)

Conditions:

• Not permitted in edible product areas

• Must not contaminate food, packaging or ingredients

• Use must strictly follow label instructions

This makes the product suitable for regulated food environments, provided correct placement and procedures are followed.

Safety Notes

• Permethrin is highly toxic to cats and aquatic organisms — keep it away from pets and waterways.

• As with all pesticide dusts, avoid inhalation during application — use a dust mask.
