Contains: 300g/litre clopyralid as the trisopropanolamine salt in the form of a soluble concentrate.

Similar to Rainbow and Brown’s old Cobber Product⁽¹⁾, Ralid is a broad spectrum selective herbicide that’s great for thistles, especially Californian thistles, but also good on yarrow, daisies, dandelion, plantains, Onehunga weed, ragwort, hemlock, lupin, Old Man’s beard, broom and gorse, and a number of other weeds in pasture and a number of other fodder crops.

Ralid is perfect for those growing or managing crops, pasture/turf and forested areas.

RALID DIRECTIONS FOR USE 

 Ralid can be applied using conventional ground and aircraft spraying equipment.

Crops susceptible to Ralid include, but are not limited to: clovers, fruit trees, legumes, ornamentals, potatoes, tomatoes, vegetables and vines.

RALID APPLICATION RATES 

Amenity and Non-Crop Areas

- Clover: Use 0.7 L/ha for broadcast spray, 70 ml/100 L for spot spray, or 17 ml/10 L for knapsack. Apply to actively growing plants.
- Californian Thistle: Use 1 L/ha for broadcast spray, 100 ml/100 L for spot spray, or 25 ml/10 L for knapsack. Apply from rosette stage to early flower. Retreatment may be needed.
- Weeds like Bathurst Bur, Dandelion, Thistles, etc.: Use 1 L/ha for broadcast spray, 100 ml/100 L for spot spray, or 25 ml/10 L for knapsack. Apply to actively growing plants.
- Yarrow: Use 1 L/ha for broadcast spray, 100 ml/100 L for spot spray, or 25 ml/10 L for knapsack. Apply to growing foliage. Matted plants may need a second treatment.
- Catsear and Fireweed: Use 1.5 L/ha for broadcast spray, 150 ml/100 L for spot spray, or 35 ml/10 L for knapsack. Apply to actively growing plants.
- Ragwort, Sow Thistle, Lotus: Use 2 L/ha for broadcast spray, 200 ml/100 L for spot spray, or 50 ml/10 L for knapsack. Apply to actively growing plants.
- Cape Daisy: Use 1-2 L/ha for broadcast spray, 200 ml/100 L for spot spray, or 50 ml/10 L for knapsack. Apply to growing rosettes; use lower rate on seedlings.
- Hemlock and Lupin: Spot spray only; use 100-200 ml/100 L for spot spray or 25-50 ml/10 L for knapsack. Apply to actively growing plants.
- Old Man’s Beard: Use 12-25 L/ha for broadcast spray, 500 ml/100 L for spot spray, or 125 ml/10 L for knapsack.
- Broom and Gorse: Spot spray only; use 500 ml/100 L for spot spray or 125 ml/10 L for knapsack. Apply during October to January.

Important Note: Avoid spraying in amenity areas that are being mowed.

Shelter and Ornamental Trees

Use 1-2 L/ha as a directed spray for weed control around trees like conifers, willows, poplars, and eucalyptus, which are tolerant. If unsure about tolerance, treat a small area first. Avoid legumes and Compositae plants.

Forestry - Radiata Pine

Use 10 L/ha with triclopyr to control gorse, broom, and wattles. Apply when gorse is up to 1 metre high and wattles up to 2 metres. Temporary tree damage may occur.

Crops and Pastures

- Asparagus: Use 0.5-1 L/ha for clover, Californian thistles, and yarrow control. Retreatment may be needed for thistles and yarrow.
- Beets (Fodder and Sugar): Use 0.5-1 L/ha after the crop has two true leaves but before bulb formation to control Californian thistle and yarrow.
- Cereals: Use 0.3-1 L/ha for Californian thistle, yarrow, and volunteer potatoes, applied after the crop has two leaves.
- Field Brassicas: Use 0.5-1 L/ha after the crop has two true leaves to control thistles and yarrow.
- Maize and Sweetcorn: Use 0.5-1 L/ha after the crop has three expanded leaves to control Bathurst bur, thistles, and volunteer potatoes.
- Orchards: Follow the same guidance as for amenity areas for weed control.
- Pastures: Add 100-200 ml of RALID to MCPA or 2,4-D for thistle control. For Californian thistle, a double pass will give the best results.

Conservation Tillage

For clover, narrow-leaved plantain, and thistles, apply 0.5-0.7 L/ha to actively growing weeds. For Californian thistle and yarrow, apply 1 L/ha, ensuring follow-up cultivation for best results.

WITHHOLDING PERIODS

Asparagus: Do not apply within 3 days of cutting spears.

Clippings from turf treated with Ralid must not be composted or recycled. Do not send any other treated vegetative plant material to a green waste recycling centre within 12 months after treatment.

CROP ESTABLISHMENT Brassicas, cereal and ryegrass crops may be drilled any time after application of Ralid.

CAUTION: Do not plant susceptible crops (clover, peas, beans, potatoes, tomatoes, carrot, cucurbits) within 2 weeks of applying up to 0.5 litres/ha of Ralid. Where more than 0.5 L/ha is applied, do not plant susceptible crops within 6 – 12 months of treatment without sowing a small area first to check soil residues.

QUALIFIED HANDLER – must be used under the personal control of suitably qualified handler during mixing, loading and application.
