Glyphosate Gel designed to tackle the toughest of all weeds, Bamboo

Contains: 240g/L glyphosate as the isopropylamine salt

Targetted effective and convenient weed control designed for Bamboo species - but also great for privets and other coppicing shrubs and trees. Because of the way it is used it is extremely eco-friendly and is used regularly by contractors, environmental groups and many councils.

Similar or equivalent to:

  • Kiwicare (1) Weed Weapon (2) Invade Gel - although this is only 100g/L strength not 240g/L
  • Yates Zero Rapid Gel (3) - although this is only 40g/L strength not 240g/L
  • RoundUp Gel (4)- although a gel this is very weak at only 7.2g/L

Specifically reformulated from clear to green to make it more visible when being used.  The green is absorbed and not noticed with a day or so of application.  Some of the pictures of the the product in use might still show the old clear gel.

Why Use Cut'n'Paste Bamboo Buster Glyphosate Weed Killing Gel

In spite of all the uninformed bad press about Glyphosate, it is still one of the safest and most effective herbicides on the market.  It is a non-selective herbicide meaning that it will kill most weeds and plants but because you are applying it in a safe and controlled way you are only killing exactly the plants and weeds that you select.  By using a glyphosate gel or glyphosate past it is even safer as it is only being applied to the one plant or weed that you want to control.

  • Very little if any of this easy to use paste gets anywhere other than on the weed or plant you want to kill.
  • Apart from that the glyphosate is deactivated by soil and does not have any residual activity.
  • No spray, fumes or mist to be inhaled or to drift onto unintended plants
  • Ready for immediate use.
  • Does not need mixing
  • Convenient refillable application pack

There are more than 1000 species of Bamboo. Not all are in New Zealand but the varieties that are can often cause concern for landowners.

Clumping varieties usually are less of a problem compared to those with long underground rhizomes that can spread rapidly damaging decks, water tanks, concrete paths, etc. These are often very hard to get rid of.

Bamboo Buster has been tested and used on a number of different species with very pretty good results. Some species may require several follow up treatments until all vigour has gone from the root systems and no more shoots reappear. Where deformed new growth appears from old stumps cut and paste the leaves of the many little stems.

There are other more toxic methods of killing bamboo, some of which are more immediately effective but they have long term residual effects on the soil and other plants nearby. Bamboo Buster gives you the ability to tackle your bamboo without spoiling your soil.

Directions for Use - Cut'n'Paste Bamboo Buster

For Bamboo

1. Cut the weed down to about 2cm above a node and dispose of cuttings appropriately.

2. Take your bottle of Cut'n'Paste Bamboo Buster,  hold it upside down and gently squeeze a layer of Bamboo Buster glyphosate gel onto the whole surface of the cut stem from the edge to the centre.

3. Leave it to die off.

For the best effects paste the Bamboo Buster herbicide gel onto the Bamboo immediately after cutting.

For Privets and woody weeds

1. Cut as close to the soil as is practical.

2. Scrape off bark below the cut and cut off both ends of any exposed roots and leafy shoots.

3. Apply a liberal coating of Cut'n'Paste Bamboo Buster to all exposed wood.

3. Leave it to die off.  This should generally take a week or two. Cut'n'Paste Original is great big leafy weeds too!

Weeds Controlled by Cut'n'Paste Weedkiller

Because Glyphosate is not selective the list of weeds controlled is almost endless.  Don't confuse our higher strength with low strength products designed to kill smaller weeds in your home garden.  Our Cut'n'Paste Original is more than 16 times stronger than RoundUp Gel (5) plus we have a bigger bottle

What weeds can you deal to? The list is almost endless. Don’t confuse Cut’n’Paste with Roundup Gel. Roundup Gel is designed to kill the weeds in your garden path. Cut’n’Paste has 16 times more active ingredient and will also kill your gorse and agapanthus and ginger, the list is endless. And at 3 times as much in the bottle it’s 30 times the value for money.

There are more than 600 weeds and plants where it is likely to be effective but many of these can be controlled using Cut'n'Paste Original.

Bamboo Buster is perfect for use on the hard to kill Bamboo but it is also excellent on all those very tough woody weeds like Chinese privet, tree privet, Rhamnus alternus (evergreen buckthorn), willow, gorsebarberryhawthorn and other vigorous coppicing shrub weeds and trees.

Common Questions about Cut'n'Paste Bamboo Buster

How long does it take for the gel to be absorbed into the cut stem?

It depends on the time and the weather.  When it is warm and sunny the Bamboo Buster gel gets absorbed in up to 4 hours.  When it is a bit cooler or the weeds are in damp or sheltered conditions then it can take a few days.

What time of year can it be used?

In New Zealand you can apply the gel at any time but the effectiveness of Cut'n'Paste Bamboo Buster might be reduced a bit in the colder months.

How many weeds (stems) can I treat from one 450ml bottle of Bamboo Buster?

You should be able to apply to around 240-250 cut stems assuming the diameter of the stem is around 25mm and you are applying a layer of gel around 4-5mm thick.

Can I apply Bamboo Buster when its raining?

Not recommended for a number of reasons.  Ideally you should not apply when there is risk of rain within 12-18 hours.  Ideally longer to give the herbicide gel a chance to be absorbed.  Also if it rains you run the risk of the gel being washed off onto non-target plants.

Is Bamboo Buster safe around children and pets?

The relatively small amount of active ingredient together with the relatively low toxicity and the small amount being applied to each stem means the product is generally pretty safe but it is still a harmful chemical and must be kept away from children.  Especially in the bottle.

Is Bamboo Buster safe around other plants?

Because you are applying directly to the weed you want to kill there is no spray drift but if you spill small amounts of the gel on non-target plants then they can be damaged.  This is the big advantage the Cut'n'Paste Gels though in that you can kill weeds easily without harming other plants and natives.

How often should I replace the brush?

Normally the brush will start to wear out between 5-7 applications so if you are refilling from 5L packs then it is a good idea to buy two brush sets every time you buy a 5L refill pack.

Are there any Bamboo Buster residue left in the soil?

Because you are applying to the plant directly there is generally no soil residues.  Any product that drops onto the soil is normally deactivated in the soil.
